In recent years, the solar thin-film market has been characterised by dramatic growth. Thin-film manufacturers have recently been able to raise their market share to circa 20% as an attractive, cost-effective alternative to traditional crystalline photovoltaic modules. However, this boom is in danger of busting – prices for mono and polycrystalline modules have reduced thin-film’s cost advantage and are putting manufacturers under great pressure.
